|Sri Petaling Restaurant | Herb & Spices - Fusion Treat|
Sri Petaling Restaurants If you're new in Sri Petaling neighborhood, let me tell that Jalan Radin Bagus is a booming food street. From buffet to gourmet, it is no secret that this food haven is serving the townies from Bukit Jalil, OUG/Old Klang Road, Salak South but also folks from other states and overseas. Be it dim sum, shabu shabu, bak kut teh, vegatarian, steamboat, teppanyaki, fish head noodles to Nasi Dagang, Sri Petaling has something for everyone.
Ever wonder if you can sample an authentic Kelantanese dish in KL or Klang Valley? Well, hop into Herbs and Spices Restaurant in Sri Petaling food street is the answer. It's a kosher restaurant (halal), famed for Nasi Dagang or literally means 'Trading Rice'. Originated from Pattani/Kelantan, Nasi Dagang is considered a festive dish in the east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia, usually consumed for breakfast similar to the commonly known Nasi Lemak (coconut milk rice). A glance of this dish looks simple, however the preparation is very tedious. Moreover, the good ones are hardly avail particularly in west coast states.
Herbs & Spices Restaurant If you walk into Herbs and Spices, their Kelantanese chef spoils one with 3 home-made versions of Nasi Dagang i.e. Ikan Tongkol (Tuna curry), Beef rendang (beef curry) or Ayam Berempah (deep fried spiced chicken). Each serving comes with vegetable pickle (acar), sambal (chili) and two-halved hard boiled egg. This is a must try dish that is going to give you a lasting impression of Nasi Dagang!
Aside from Nasi Dagang, Herbs & Spices Restaurant features western cuisine such as Mushroom Soup priced at RM6.90 (with real mushroom not from can!), Rib Eye Steak, Sirloin Steak, Grilled Salmon, Lamb Shank in addition to local delights including Mee Siam, Nasi Lemak, Mee Mamak, Seafood Laksa, Mee Hailam, Nasi Goreng as well as classical desserts - Sago Melaka, English Trifle, Banana Split and Cream Caramel.
We ended up with Nasi Dagang (RM9.50), Grilled Salmon (RM19) and a festive dish - Xmas Turkey (RM25). Both Nasi Dagang and Grilled Salmon were spectacular. Xmas Turkey was slightly behind because the turkey turned out dried and tough, mismatched my expectation for something tender and juicy.
Prompt and witty for service. Affordable pricing (price on menu + 5% service charge) is an edge. And we love their foods - they are simply fabulous!! Absolutely an eatery in the list of our favorites.
